Highs and Lows: "I'm tired and it's late" edition

Hello, long lost blogging pals!  I am so super tired right now.  But I have just written possibly the funniest email ever to my dear sister, and I know it's dumb, but she's in an earlier time zone, and I'm kind of hoping she's reading the email right now and is going to reply before I go to bed, because I want to know if she got as much of a kick out of it reading it, as I did writing it.

Yeah.

So here are my highs and lows from the week...again, not many lows!  That's great!  Or maybe there were, and I just don't want to be a Debbie Downer.

I'll do the lows first again:

1. My little girl - the one who made the competition cheerleading squad? - is now on the chopping block because her coach says that her tumbling skills aren't where they need to be.  Um, do ya think so???  She can barely do a roundoff; did you really think she'd have her back handspring down by now?  She couldn't have figured that out a month ago, thus saving my girl the disappointment???  I mean it's one thing not to make a team.  But it's another to make it, and then have that taken away.  UNCOOL, coach.  Uncool.  So tomorrow (Monday) is sort of a "final tryout" and a decision will be made.  I had to prepare my girl just in case.  That really upset me.

2. The dog keeps peeing on our bath mats.  I put a fresh one down, she pees on it.

Fortunately, that's all the lows I can think of right now.

And for the highs...

1. This weekend, the sun, moon and stars were in perfect alignment, resulting in the most epic yard sale day EVER.  I will share pictures soon.  Prepare yourselves!

2. I got a job that I wasn't even exactly looking for.  It doesn't satisfy my artistic needs, (name the movie) but it's an answer to a prayer!  When school starts, and my precious babies leave me all alone to cry my eyes out and wallow in self-pity....well, after that first day, I will be (Super)nanny-ing for a friend's kids, full time.  She is a teacher.  Yes, that would be a job with a teacher's schedule, without actually having to teach. Oh, and she lives about a mile from my house.  Oh, and her house is one block away from my kids' school.  OH, and her kids are the kind of kids you would actually want to be with all day.  (Not those other kind.  You know the kind.)  AND she said I can bring the dog with me so she won't have to be stuck in a crate all day.  I mean, the list goes on.  I'd been praying about what I should do once my kids are both in (sniff, sniff) school.  I won't bore you with the whole story, (oh, wait, I have already) but basically I wanted to have my cake and eat it too.  A job that didn't take me away from my family on nights & weekends, and one where I wouldn't have to work in the summer...right.  That doesn't really exist.  Right?  :)

3. Oh, I don't remember the third one.  I'm sure something else good happened, though.  Use your imagination!

Well, my sister didn't reply to my email yet, so I'm going to bed.

Luv ya Jen, thanks for the hilarious haircut story this week!

  1. That coach should get a roundoff kick to the head! A little thought into who you will accept onto your team, huh?

And the dog peeing on the rug? FUNNY! Only because I don't have to keep cleaning the rug, of course. But that's funny!

And YAY for the good yard sale and super YAY for the great job! Perfect!

  2. Seriously, how do you keep yourself from smacking that coach? I hope your princess is doing okay. Keep us updated, and fingers crossed, okay?

I think I read somewhere that it's the smell that attracts dogs to the bathmat? I used to have a dog that did the same thing. Ugh.

YAY for your new job! I wish I had a job to get out of the house, but then again, I have an 11 month old, and I want to stay home with her (most days, today she's being a booger).

    Thanks again for linking up!

  3. Sorry about your kiddo making the squad and then getting kicked off... where does she go?

Oh and about the bath mat, at least it is something you can wash. Mine has now ruined two rugs and is about to be banned to the back yard... ok, I can't do that... but I am going to get rid of the rug under the dining table and get a doggie door so hopefully that will help. Anyways, at least you can wash the mat.

Awesome about the new job! Great that it is where you want to be and times that will work for you! Have a great week!

  4. Some people have no heart. I can't believe that they would kick a LITTLE GIRL off a cheerleading squad of other LITTLE GIRLS. Come on now. Give her some extra hugs from me.

Bath mat.....I would recommend putting it up on the side of the bathtub. I do that with mine-not because I have a dog that pees but I thought it might help your situation:-)

Congrats on the job! I am struggling with the job situation as well. Why did I go to college again? Hope it all works out for you!

  5. Oh, I am so sorry to hear about the cheering episode. I know how hard that can be on a daughter. I hope the coach had a dream last night that enlightened her about how to deal with young girls and their dreams.
